I SUSPECT THIS WAS TAKEN IN THE NAVY SHIP YARD AT VALLEJO CALIFORNIA.  IT APPEARS ALL THE RADAR EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN REMOVED SINCE THERE ARE NO ATTENAE SHOWN ON THE MASTS.  I BELIEVE THIS MAY HAVE BEEN WHEN THE OLD SG1 RADAR WAS REMOVED AND THE SPS 16 RADAR WAS PUT ON.  THE SHIP HAD GONE THROUGH A RATHER EXTENSIVE YARD PERIOD AND RECEIVED A NUMBER OF IMPROVEMENTS.  IF THIS IS THE CASE, IT WAS AFTER THIS WE NOTED THE USS CAVALIER WAS ABLE TO PICK UP MOUNTAIN PEAKS AS FAR AWAY AS 325 MILES AND MORE, DEPENDING UPON THEIR ALTITUDE.  OFTEN WE WERE ABLE TO RADAR NAVIGATE BACK TO LONG BEACH FROM OUT AT SEA LONG BEFORE ANYONE ELSE IN OUR SQUADRON.  ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE ABOUT THIS PICTURE...LET THIS SITE KNOW...
THANKS,
